Swing Trading Practical Example on Reliance Industries..
There are mainly two categories for people involved in the stock markets.
1. Investors: Who buy the stocks and take the delivery of those stocks, hold it for different time horizons, mainly long term or shorter terms. Long term may be in years or some time in decades. The investors might not be worried of stop loss. They can trail the prices up to the bottom, whatever it may be. And then wait even for maximum profits possible, though it may take years.
2. Traders: As the life in current era is lightening fast so as the mind of the people. There is a class who believes the profit booked on the account is the money we earned. The invested money may not be recovered in each and every case. This belief has a strong support of recent debacles of stock markets along with giant stocks. For example, Reliance was at the pick of 1100 plus in 2010-11. Something went wrong and it slipped to the narrow range of Rs. 700 to 900. It remains there for more than 2 years. We have few investors who have entered in the Reliance above 1100 and still they are waiting the stock to break that level. Now Reliance has recently break the level of 900 Rs in the last week, the stock can now considered to go higher and achieve the last high again. But it may take still a year or so...
Now, the question is why to fix the capital for such a longer span when we can make profits in the same stocks following its swings. Say for example, if I would have invested my same amount of money in the same stocks following each of its swing, I would have earned more. Just see the following table:
